Located in the heart of downtown, the Tampa Museum of Art was founded in 1920 and has been showcasing exhibitions and inspiring programs based on ancient, modern and contemporary art. The museum is home to one of the largest Greek and Roman antique collections in Southeastern United States. The museum’s collections and exhibitions also embrace sculpture, painting, photography, new media, and so much more.
The museum is full of local, national and international artists to inspire visitors to be interactive in exhibitions and art through education such as lectures, tours, and community partnerships. Collections & Exhibitions
The museum is full of collections and exhibitions, some of the current exhibitions are Modern Women: Modern Vision Works, 14th Congressional District, Next Generation High School Art Competition 2020, Ancient and Modern Glass, and Aphrodite Reimagined. The museum is also full of permanent collections such as Classical Antiques, Prints and Photographs, Decorative Arts & Sculpture featuring many artists like, Dominique Labauvie, Glenda León, Robert MacPherson, and Jin Shan.
The museum has several main events this year such as the Pride & Passion, city: fashion + art + culture, and pavilion xxxv. The annual Pavilion xxxv is the Tampa Museum of Art’s premier black-tie event. This year the gala will celebrate its 35th anniversary to raise funds and awareness for the exhibition and educational programs. Also, the Tampa Museum of Art will be celebrating its 100th year!
Pride & Passion, is a signature event for the museum. The LGBTQ+ community plays a major role in the artistic and cultural fabric of Tampa Bay and also all over the globe. All proceeds raised by Pride & Passion directly support Museum programs that celebrate local talent and create a safe place for everyone to experience and enjoy the arts.
